📖 Why Metal Feels Colder

A metal desk leg and a wooden desktop can sit in the same room and be nearly the same temperature, yet the metal may feel colder. Metal conducts thermal energy more quickly than wood. When your warm hand touches metal, heat leaves your hand faster, creating a stronger sensation of cold. The difference is mainly about the rate of heat transfer, not necessarily a large difference in temperature.

1. Why can metal feel colder than wood?

2. Are the two materials necessarily at very different temperatures?

3. What property of metal explains the sensation?

4. What is the main idea?

✏️ Writing

Write 1–2 paragraphs explaining why touch alone is not always a reliable way to compare temperatures.

➕ Math

1. A school collects 8 boxes containing 30 books each. How many books are collected? ______
2. 98 books are donated to another school. How many remain? ______
3. Write an equation representing both steps: __________________
4. Explain how you know your answer is reasonable: __________________

🎨 Color & Create
